This week saw the conclusion of the 2016-2017 Teacher Subject Specialism Training (TSST) Programme with 23 full-time secondary school teachers (not all pictured) from across Somerset formerly qualifying to teach either Mathematics or Physics in addition to their current specialist subject.
Funded by The National College for Teaching and Leadership, the TSST Programme 2016-2017 comprised of a three-day conference last July to start the course, followed by six twilight sessions throughout the academic year. Taught and mentored by the specialist tutor training team at The Blue School in Wells, course participants have worked on both their areas of strength and areas for development and recorded their progress using a Personal Learning Log.
The successful TSST graduates were presented their course completion certificates by Tony Bloxham, Taunton Teaching Alliance Director, who congratulated everyone on their excellent achievement and spoke of how increasing their teaching capacity so successfully will have a direct, immediate and positive impact on the learning experience and academic achievements of their students.
