The TTA recognises the importance of educational research as having the potential to directly impact on education, developing teaching and learning and improving outcomes for learners. Research needs to be reliable, valid and impartial, aiming to affect policy and practice across a broad range of educational settings. The purpose of educational research is to develop theoretical knowledge, transform practice and provide evidence of “what works”. Collaboration through research allows professionals to share practice, knowledge, innovation, and create opportunities to make links and work in partnership in order to raise standards.
The TTA aims to support innovation, research and development so that:
- It is sustainable and strategic
- It improves teaching and learning
- It improves outcomes for learners
- It has a positive impact on education
